(STEM) STRUCTURAL ENERGY HARVESTING COMPOSITE MATERIALS

Funding: Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (National R&D Programme for Societal Challenges) (MAT2015-62584-ERC)
Region: Spain
Project period: 2015 – 2016
Principal Investigator: Dr. Juan José Vilatela (juanjose.vilatela@imdea.org)

The purpose of this project is the development of new multifunctional structural composite materials that combine high-performance mechanical properties and the possibility to harvest energy. The uniqueness of this project lies in exploiting advanced optoelectronic processes in macroscopic strong composites on a composite ply length-scale, in the quest for a new generation of light-weight multifunctional structural materials.
