Abstract
Platinum-based materials are highly active as the electrocatalysts both in hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in fuel cells, but high cost limits its wide applications. In this talk, the reporter summarized the recent research progress of designing and preparing novel nanostructured precious-metal-free electrocatalysts toward the HER and ORR in his group. Some key reaction mechanisms and relationships of structures, compositions and properties are also proposed and concluded.

Jiacheng Wang is Full Professor in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and also Principal Investigator of “Combinatorial Technology and Energy Materials Research Group”. He received PhD degree in materials physics and chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics in 2007. He has received several famous fellowships and awards including JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) postdoctoral fellowship (2010), Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2011), Marie-Curie Intra-European Fellowship (2012) and “One Hundred Talent Plan” of CAS (2013). He has extensive experience and interests in inorganic porous materials for energy-related applications. He has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers in prestigious international journals including Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Funct. Mater., Energy Storage Mater., ACS Catal., Nano Res., Carbon, etc. His publications have been cited over 2500 times.
