(CAREFIB) DEVELOPMENT OF CARBON NANOTUBE-BASED EPOXY RESINS FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE FIBRE CABLES

Funding Organization: Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI)
Industrial Sector: Naval Engineering
Region: National
Project Period: 2011 – 2012
Principal Investigator: Dr. Juan José Vilatela (juanjose.vilatela@imdea.org)

This is an industrial R&D contract between a world leading company in the marine sector and the Institute IMDEA Materials wich aims at developing innovative solutions of carbon nanotube-based nanocomposites. The project is supported by the Spanish Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) under the Research and Development Projects Programme (PID).

The general objective of this project is the production of epoxy resins with carbon nanotubes for high-performance cables, aimed at improving the mechanical properties through improvements in the manufacturing of the cables as well as by directly reinforcing the matrix.
